Our Mission and Vision
Nurturing Souls for Life, Spreading the Word of Jesus Christ
Every Student Loves, Learns, Laughs, and Leads
GHLS students are taught that they are loved by God. God’s love for them in Christ has gifted them the forgiveness of sins and eternal life in heaven. Through baptism and the working of the Holy Spirit, these gifts are received, understood, and appreciated. In thanks for what God has given them, GHLS students love God, their families, each other, their teachers, and everyone else around them. God’s love for them and their love for God are the motivation for everything GHLS students do and all they become. In gratitude, they use their God-given gifts to the fullest and eagerly want to share God’s love with others.
“We love because he first loved us.” 1 John 4:19
Schools exist to educate their students, to help their students learn. GHLS educates the whole child—mind, body, and soul—through a rigorous, yet balanced, academic program that is Christ-centered and lovingly “pushes” its students, whether advanced or needing remedial help, to achieve their absolute best. Teachers plan and present lessons and activities that accommodate all the learning styles: visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. All this, within a positive, “no excuses” school culture, creates students who are life-long learners and who succeed at GHLS, in high school, in college, and in life.
“Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still; teach the righteous and they will add to their learning.” Proverbs 9:9
Learning should be fun. Research has demonstrated that when children are having fun while they learn, they retain better what they learn. Those who study schools, say learning is effective when teachers make lessons stimulating, challenging, fascinating, and fun. GHLS teachers take their high calling very seriously and want their students to reach their full, God-given potential. They also understand that their joy-filled, Jesus-reflecting personality and enjoyable, engaging lessons produce students who want to be in school and who grow every single day they attend.
“But may the righteous be glad and rejoice before God; may they be happy and joyful.” Psalm 68:3
According to leadership experts, everyone is a potential leader who can be an effective change agent. GHLS builds leaders by fostering in its students a spirit of success, a sense of higher purpose, and the desire to serve. By encouraging students to do everything to the glory of God and to be shining lights in a dark world, and by creating opportunities to experience and practice servant-leadership, GHLS prepares its students to go out and make a difference—in their own lives and in the lives of others.
“Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.” Daniel 12:3
