Operation Christmas Child Service Project:
Through November 22, students are encouraged to donate new toys, school supplies, hygiene items, and other small gifts for our Operation Christmas Child gift drive. This is an international program that delivers shoeboxes full of Christmas presents to needy children all over the world. Along with the gifts, each child is given the good news that Jesus is their Savior.
Our students will be packing the provided shoeboxes together in their classrooms and will have the opportunity to include a special note for the child who receives the gift box. Please, consider donating to this important cause. Some gift ideas include stuffed animals, dolls, toothbrushes, hairbrush, markers, bead kits, & sunglasses. In addition, shoeboxes are available in the lobby for any family that would like to start a new Christmas tradition and pack a box on their own together.

K4 Classroom Spotlight – Mrs. Burton:
Our class went to the Pumpkin Farm. The tour guide showed the class a video about what they would see. Then the students watched a magic show. They enjoyed seeing all the farm animals, especially the calves. The students took a hayride to the pumpkin patch to pick a pumpkin. I was proud of the student's exceptional behavior

Flannels & Flapjacks Fundraiser:
On Friday, November 22 from 7:15AM-8:00AM you are invited to our annual pancake breakfast fundraiser. Pancakes and sausage will be served in the gymnasium by our student council, the G-House of Reps. This is their largest fundraising event of the year with all proceeds going to benefit the G-House of Reps student program. The cost is $5.00 per person with all children 2 years or under free. Students in K3-8th Grade can show their support by dressing down with flannels and plaid that day.
Grade 4 Classroom Spotlight – Mr. Tomhave:
The fourth grade class had a blast with their first science lab in our electricity unit last week. They started by studying how solar panels absorb light and then learned how to create a complete circuit. The whole class got a chance to try powering a buzzer and an electric fan by using their wiring skills and a solar panel. They did a great job working together and problem solving to make this learning experience a fun time.
Veteran’s Day – Guest Speaker:
In honor of Veteran’s Day on November 11, the 3rd through 8th graders will have a special guest speaker Mr. Lorenzo Hawkins. Mr. Hawkins is a proud grandparent of students at GHLS. The students will be able to hear first-hand the experiences and see artifacts from a career service member who was stationed all over the world.
