End of the 2nd Quarter
The second quarter has come to an end. Report cards will be coming home with your child on January 18th. Parent teacher conferences are optional in the second quarter. Attached to your child’s report card is a letter for the teacher or the parent to request a report card conference. Please complete the conference form and return it to school. Report card conferences will take place January 22nd through January 25th.
NWEA MAP Testing
Next week we will begin our winter NWEA MAP Testing. MAP stands for Measures of Academic Progress. This is a standardized test that shows where a student is in the grade level standards and how they compare with their peers. The results help us individualize our instruction to meet the needs of each student as well as the class as a whole. Teachers will let you know when they plan to test in their weekly announcements. Students test best when they have had a great night’s sleep and a good breakfast to start their day!
Service Project “Penny War”
Each year the G-House of Rep plans a service project to raise funds for an organization they select. This year they chose My Stuff Bags Foundation. In order to raise funds, the G-House of Reps have organized a “Penny War.” They are asking that students bring in coins or dollars between January 22nd and February 1st. Each class will be competing to see who raises the most money for the project. The winning class will earn a prize. Please consider donating to this year’s cause.
Save the Date
The next school program is the annual Black History Program taking place on Friday, February 23rd, at 2:15pm. Please mark your calendars. We hope to see everyone there.
Basketball Games
The Garden Homes Vikings have been competing in their conference games. If you are looking for a chance to watch some basketball, there are many games coming up. We hope you can catch a game or a few.

· January 20th – B-Team Girls Tournament at Trinity Waukesha
· January 20th – B-Team Boys Tournament at Mount Calvary Waukesha
· January 25th – Home Games against St. Paul’s Muskego
· February 2nd – Away Games against Star of Bethlehem New Berlin
